Comcast ruins my day yet again

I have been dealing with comcast forever. I’ve probably had their service for around 20 years. It’s about the only cable service in my area, so i’m stuck. I woke up this morning (after sleeping quite lousy i might add) and all i wanted to do was watch some TV. I turn on my television, and nothing. There is a “Please wait a moment. Your cable will be back momentarily” And of course an hour later, and still nothing. So i decided to get online and troubleshoot over live chat (Phone calls are aggrivating and i always get someone with an accent i can’t understand) So the first person i talk to goes over the basic things, unplug the box, turn tv on and off, resend code, all that nonsense and no luck. So i got tired and left.

I went back about an hour later hoping to get someone more knowledgeable and after another 30 mins, i asked for a supervisor. He suggested a technician come over. Well the last two times a tech came, they were rude and didn’t know what they were doing. One walked in without even knocking. I know my wiring, no tech is going to find a problem with the wires. They suggest i take the box in for a replacement. I’ve done this several times before when i had a problem. “Not working? Not our fault, you must have done something wrong, you need a replacement” In the end there is always something wrong with the account codes, or the activation ,or the billing. So i went through everything with the supervisor, and lo and behold! There was something wrong with my account.

There was no mention of my having an HD box connected to my account, even though it’s clearly listed in my billing. They have the most horrible records i’ve ever seen. Nobody knows who i talked to before, or any of my past problems. So they are saying i need to add an extra slot for extra money, blah blah blah. So i ended the chat, and i’m going to take the box back tonight and get a new one, and hope it works. All i need is to spend another 2 hours talking with someone who has no idea how to do thier job. If this is the fist time it has happened, i wouldn’t need to vent. I lost my cable for an entire week once because of thier account problems, and i didnt even get any kind of credit for the outage. I hooked up a phone with digital voice, and it took over 10 chat sessions for them to realize the code they were using to activate my modem was only a trial code or some such nonsense.

I just want to be able to turn my tv on and watch. As it is, i spend enough time and energy with Comcast, that i should be getting paid. I don’t even know what i’m paying for anymore. The customer service is non-existent, and the quality isn’t great. My audio cuts out on my HD tv’s and the video is blurry, and cuts out with the audio on the others. I’d like to think they are going to do something to make thier service better but… 20 years and it’s only gotten worse since they introduced digital television.
