An article on our local news station is warning that “sales” men are trying to scam elderly people into buying products at ridiculously high prices, products that they could purchase much cheaper at the local store. The part of this scam that truly boils me over is the way the scammers get the phone numbers for these “prospective” clients. They are placing “raffle” boxes at local businesses, usually raffling off a “free” meal. When you fill out the entry form, you include your name, phone number and AGE. These “sales” men then find the elderly people (which are on a fixed budget) and call them to say “you won a free meal”. When these people arrive at the restaurant they are greeted by a salesman that pitches products to them at astronomical prices. Products like fire extinguishers and smoke detectors, stating that their old ones are not working or inefficient.

The Local Authorities in ARGENTINE TOWNSHIP, Mich do not know who these “sales” men are, so BEWARE! If it is happening in communities here chances are it is happening where you live too. Please warn the people that you know and alert authorities to anything even smelling like a scam.

People like this are dirt, the dregs of the earth, instead of going out and making an honest living, they would rather ruin someone’s entire life to get ahead. Keep you eyes open and help catch a scammer.

Authorities did next to nothing to ensure that the jail was secure and that the Plaintiff could not escape.

The inmate Scott Anthony Gomez, Jr. alleges that guards have sprayed him with pepper spray, shot him with a stun gun, and beaten and kicked him without a reason. Well I’ll give you one …. He escaped with another inmate in November of 2006 and was caught two days later. He also states after climbing out a hole in the ceiling he was seriously injured when he fell 40 feet while trying to scale down the side of the jail. Oh Poor Baby, maybe you should not try to escape from jail where you were put for a reason!

So how in our society can a criminal sue for something as ridiculous as that and we could not sue the negligent people involved with the death of our son. How is that a Great Legal System? This man is a convicted criminal that should take away the right to sue anyone let alone the sheriffs department because your dumb ass escaped from jail. Should we mention the amount of money that it is going to cost the taxpayers for the county to defend this frivolous suit? People like you and I work hard everyday for everything that we have in life, some criminal should not be able to place a bigger burden on society, we already have to pay for his meal, lodging, cable TV, ect. Although the article did not say what Gomez was originally in jail for, if he is trying to escape, numerous times, it must be a serious crime. Remember seeing the days of the gallows, I think that would be cheaper way to take care of the more serious offenders.

Some schools have just become way out of hand, our children are suppose to be in a learning environment with mentors they look up to. What student is going to look up to the staff if they are sending 10 year old to jail for eating their lunch.

The really bad part of this story is that while I was reading this article another headline caught my eye. It read Mother Upset After School Doesn’t Report Slashing Incident to Police. This took place in a Middle School in Deltona, Florida which is approximately 73 miles southeast of Ocala. One student that cuts himself due to mental issues, took out a piece of glass and cut another student.

The student that was cut, states

I walked up to him he had eight or ten cuts on his arm. I said, ‘What’s wrong with you?’ He goes, ‘Nothing,’ and he pulls out a glass out of his pocket and he cuts me, Aaron said.

It was just a scratch, but it did bleed. Now I am not saying that warrants arresting this student, but the school did not even call the Aarons parents to tell them about the incident. When Aaron showed up for school the next day the boy that cut him was sitting in the classroom. A school counselor states that their concern was for the boy that cuts himself, as it should be, but they should also be concerned with the fact that he is cutting other students.

The school staff considered Aaron’s wound minor and not an attack with a weapon.

When asked by the reporter

He did go after a fellow student, so why wouldn’t this fall under a weapon?”

The counselor stated

I can tell you, we’re not talking about a knife here, we’re not talking about anything that had a jagged edge,

So one school sends a 5th grade student off in a police car for cutting a steak and another school 70 miles away sends a student to counseling for cutting another student. What is going on in this country! This is so insanely ridiculous!
