Ask yourself one question, when you see a kid skateboarding in a public area do you automatically think he is a punk or just a kid skating. In our town I have a feeling the answer is punk. Our youngest son has been skateboarding since he was 5. Dustin taught him to skate and they had big “Pro” dreams until Dustin died. Since then our youngest is more passionate than ever about skateboarding. He still has “Pro” dreams, but he has difficulty finding places to practice. Good blacktop is hard to find, especially when most of it consists of parking lots in which he must wait patiently for the businesses to close in order to skate. He is very respectful in not bothering other people, vehicles or surrounding property. He just wants to skate.

The summer has been full of stops by the police and area officials telling him he can not use their property. We live down the road from the township and across from the local park. The township kicks him out of the parking lot even after they are closed for business. The township park across the street only has a small parking lot to skate in and it is always full of cars. The local shopping center has a few small places that are not traveled by people or vehicles, but he was told he would destroy property so he could not skate there either.

I understand some of this to a point, there are kids that “skate” who are punks, but our kid just wants to skate! That is in his heart, it is all he talks about…being like Ryan Sheckler ….one day. The nearest skate park to us is over 30 miles away, so he just continues to look for a place where the people are nice and they have good blacktop….

How far will we go to let the government interject into our lives? I thought America and its laws were based on FREEDOM. Daily it seems that those freedoms are violated by none other than our American Government. The foundation of our country and its laws are based on the morals and values of religion and the main base of individual freedom. I am assuming that our government officials forgot about the Revolutionary War. Since when is freedom of religion or freedom of speech only allowed when the government thinks its appropriate. Other American citizens have joined this prude way of thinking, we have become a country that is more concerned with image than individual rights.

A perfect example of these freedoms being violated is the Texas Polygamous Sect Story. Although I would not necessarily agree with the lifestyle of this religious group, they have rights too. Yes they have more than one wife and maybe have sex with underage children, but that is their religious belief. Who are we to judge what is right to believe in? We have underage pregnancy in this country on a daily basis, why is it frowned upon more when the man is 60 instead of 16. From what I have read these children are brought up in that society not knowing a lot of the “outside world”. That is their culture, what they are taught, why would you rip them from everything they know and are safe with because YOU THINK something they would be better off. Well I live in this “outside world” and I find it hard to believe that these children are going to be better off after all this is over. The government went into this ranch on a “unfounded allegation” with guns blazing, ripping children from their homes and flat out lying to the adults. Should we be proud of this?

The government now has these children held in a coliseum and only the ones under four have been allowed to see their mothers. The “Judge” has ordered DNA testing on over 400 children, claiming they need it to investigate the abuse allegations. Last time I checked DNA can only be used for proof of abuse if testing in a “rape” situation. The only thing the Government will prove is who are the parents of these children and if their mother is underage. In my opinion the Government has caused more harm to these children then their parents in any situation. We now have over 400 children that will be torn from their families and placed in the “outside world” because the Government thinks they know what is best for them.

I wanted to touch a little bit on the Freedom of Speech which is another dying freedom. I could use many examples in this, but the most talked about controversy this week was Bill Maher and The Pope. If you haven’t heard Bill Maher accused The Pope of being a Nazi this week on his show. Again I do not agree with what Bill Maher said, but isn’t it his right to say it. Every one is blasting him for it and I can understand that, but why should he apologize and why should there be talk about taking him off the air. It was his opinion, if you are offended DON’T LISTEN!

Kudos to a little church in Jonesville, S.C. for using their freedom of speech and sticking to it.
Pastor Roger Byrd said

he just wanted to make people think when he put up a sign reading “Obama, Osama — humm, are they brothers” in front of the Jonesville Church of God on Thursday.

This may be extreme, but you know it has been in the minds of many American people. I am not saying its right, but it is an issue that “everyone” in the media seems to be ignoring. The congregation of Pastor Byrd’s church voted unanimously Sunday to keep the sign up. Good for them to sticking to Freedom of Speech and Religion!

Change, Change, Change, we all need it, but someone is promoting it without a plan or so it seems. Yes, I am speaking of Mr. Barack Hussein Obama. Oh wait I wasn’t being politically correct so let me rephrase myself Mr. Barack Obama is spouting about “Change”, “Change We Can Believe In.”

Please tell us, how you are going to change things in this country? I have been eagerly listening to all of the presidential candidates and I have not heard how Mr. Obama plans to “Change” our country. He talks a lot of great stuff, uniting the country, bringing us as one again….. Last time I checked the president needed the approval of the Congress and the House to invoke any “Change”. He has not shown many instances where he has gone against the grain and fought for something that he believed in. When looking for information on his bipartition efforts they were far and few between, “Thin” as many have called them.

How can this one man be convincing so many ‘young” voters that he will be able to become Commander and Chief and “Change” America. Naivety! We Americans that have been around the block know that change is only as good as the people that want to change it. If you are looking for someone to work across party lines, John McCain or Hillary Clinton are much better qualified.

I admire Mr. Obama’s message and wish that it was that easy, but can we really just take his word for it, he is a politician?! Mr. Obama did work on an Illinois version of the earned-income tax credit, but he also acquired a certain reputation for skipping tough votes. For example there was a key gun-control vote that he missed in December 1999. Why? He was in Hawaii on vacation.
I feel that the main stream media has been far too lenient with Mr. Obama, while they continue to smear the other “two” candidates it is obvious that all they do is promote Obama’s “Change” with empty promises.

What are you going to “Change” and how are you going to invoke that “Change” Mr. Obama?

Answer a few real questions from real Americans, not those drones you have believing that you alone can change this country. Anyone that has taken a Government class and passed knows it can not be done alone.

Fox News Jim Angle on Obama bipartisan votes

We do not endorse any candidate for president at this time, we enjoy picking on all of them, because they are politicians.

Well it has been less than a week since I posted about the sidewalks, and we have another 10 inches of snow! Still the same businesses refuse to shovel even The Michigan State Police. A trustee of the township board, Mr. Frank Morrison has tried to initiate the clearing of the sidewalks. He brought it up at the board meeting on Tuesday and said the members were concerned. Maybe Mr. Morrison has more pull than I do, but the result is the same…..place a sign in front of the fire department stating that it is the property owner’s responsibility to clear their sidewalks. We have been there done that last year and it resulted in nothing changing!

The Saginaw News ran a story yesterday Lax Property Owners Anger Bridgeport Officials. The problem is that it is angering the township trustees not the township manager!

Frank Morrison and Richard Fisher were quoted saying

We had sidewalks installed (on Dixie) from Kroger to the fire station,” Morrison said. “Now, is anyone going to clean them so people can use them?” A few Dixie property owners have cleared their walks, he said.
The others are creating a hazardous situation for pedestrians and drivers.
“I went out the other morning, and there were a couple of kids walking on the Dixie,” Morrison said.
Trustee Richard Fisher said he saw people walking on Dixie early Tuesday night as well.
“We should either make those property owners comply (with township snow removal ordinances) or we should do it ourselves and charge them before someone gets killed,” Morrison said.

SOMEONE DID GET KILLED….OUR SON!

But then Mr. Richard Dunnill screwed it all up by stating

Township Manager Richard Dunnill said firefighters will post a reminder on the sign outside the fire station, and the township Web site also will have a note reminding residents of their snow removal responsibilities.

Thanks Mr. Dunill that will help!

The local news station also did a piece on the sidewalk issue yesterday and the reminded the community that our son was killed along that section of Dixie Highway because of the sidewalks. Click Here to read the article and view the video. This angered me even more because when I watched the news clip they showed scenes from our son’s accident, scenes in which I had not seen before, it was horrifying.
I just can’t take this government bullshit anymore, at the end of the news clip they stated that it was not likely that the township would issue citations for the defiance of the ordinance! Are you kidding me, they will issue me a citation in the spring if I have a broken down car in my driveway, but not for clearing the sidewalk which kills people!
UNBELIEVABLE!
