All i can say is wow…. everything this girl said made me cry. my one and only relationship was exactly like this… from the guilt, to control, the financial issues… the physical and emotional abuse… My heart is with you, and i hope to god you read thiis and e-mail me… I ont want to give you ‘advice’ or tell you the ‘right thing to do’ i just want to listen… I int hve anyone to listen to me, no where to turn, the immence feeling of being alone in this situation i enough o drive a person to insanity. im so sorry that your jerk off boyfriend isnt a real man… And girl… Someone whos loves you shouldn’t make you cry, and when you find that person WORTH crying over… Ell hey will be the ones drying your eyes dont settle, your beautiful… Oh and im a 20 yr old female… God Bless (sorry for typos blackberrys and acryllic nails dont mix)

It is sad to read such a story and yet there are many out there who are suffering exactly the same type of abuse regardless of where they are.. this is happening around the world. I feel so sorry for you and I hope you can find a way out of this mess..

This is an absolute horror of a story. It is terrible what you are going through, but it is NOT your fault. The problem is not yours it’s his. Why do you continue to stay? I don’t think anyone could answer that question, and the advice that I could give you would only put you in jail, so I won’t give you any except to get away. Your friends, if they are in fact your friends will help you when you are in need. If you make the choice to get away from him, or have already made that choice, those friends should help you in any way they can to do that. The important thing to remember is that you need to get away before you die. The things that he is doing will only escallate into more and more instances as well as worse ones. Get out, as scary as it will or could be, it’s the only way to servive it, and it will be worth it. Good luck

First off, I am very sorry for what you are going through. You do not deserve the abuse that you are dealing with. To answer your question, no you are not selfish. Your self esteem is broken. He has made you think that you are worthless. You are not worthless. I would suggest you press charges on him. Have his arrested and get a ‘Protection from Abuse’ order on him. That way if he comes in so many feet of you, you can have him arrested. There are also a domestic abuse hotline there number is 1-800-799-SAFE(7233) Their website is http://www.ndvh.org/
You need to be out of this situation before he kills you. Sounds like he has come close many times.
