Why?!

I was going to stay away from this one today, but I just couldn’t help it. Today our son would have been 17, I was doing ok up until a few minutes ago. This morning I was able to get the boys ready for school and bake the cupcakes for tonight. Keeping busy doing my usual blog surfing and news reading when the monster called ANGER hit me.

In loving memoryIn the news story after story of children being neglected or abused. The mother in Ocala that is so popular today, yeah her kids are brats, but their still YOUR kids! You don’t just walk away from them you must cherish every single moment you have with them. Guidance, Morals, and Discipline is a much better solution than abandonment. The article that really ticked me off was about a five month old baby that was left strapped in a car seat for 8 DAYS! The baby died of starvation weighing only 10 pounds. In both these cases the parents were arrested for neglect.

Why does life work like this? I know it is a question that will never be answered, but it just seems so wrong that parents like that even have kids. If there is some “higher” power up there in the big blue sky, why would he allow bad parents to have kids while taking away from the good parents?

Why do we have to spend another year celebrating a birthday at the cemetery instead of in our loving home?

It’s Just Not Right!

Get A Job

work for foodWe have a beef with people out there that sit at home whining they can not find work. Don’t get us wrong with the unemployment rate in our state well above 7% it is tougher to find a “good” job, but not impossible to find “a” job.

Friend #1 is almost out of unemployment and is complaining that he does not know what he is going to do. Well stop sitting around waiting for a job to land in your lap and go find one. Reading the local newspaper once a day does not count as job hunting.

Friend #2 was “let go” from his job in the fall, he does not have any steady income. He was able to sell things around his house to keep him going for a couple months, but then nothing. He just keeps complaining that there is no work. This Friend has had one small side job that lasted a month or so, but will not take a job an hour away due to the high gas prices. If you are turning down work than don’t complain.

There may not be a vast amount of good jobs out there at the moment, but all the local fast food restaurants are hiring. Yeah it would suck to flip burgers to get by, but at least it’s something. It would be equal to what Friend #1’s unemployment is and Friend #2 has no income so it has to be better.

We agree that something has to be done about the lack of decent jobs in this country, but any job is better than no job. Life will only give back what you put in, so GET A JOB!

Woman stabs man - Boiled OverAs many of you probably have read, Kyeisha Fuller of Yonkers, N.Y. was arrested yesterday after stabbing a man that called her “ugly”.

Kyeisha’s roommate invited a man to their apartment yesterday afternoon. They obviously ended up in some sort of altercation, and the man called her “ugly”. Kyeisha apparently having anger issues proceeded to the kitchen, retrieved a knife and stabbed the man in the shoulder.

Now it sounds like Kyeshai should have ran to her computer instead of the kitchen and vented on Boiled Over. Instead the twenty three year old woman from Yonkers is now in jail facing charges of assault and weapon possession.

So next time any of you decide that bad manners constitutes stabbing someone, try to vent first at Boiled Over!

The Health Insurance Industry is at it Again

You may already know that we have a major beef with the insurance industry. Yesterday I came across an article in CBS News pertaining to BCBS Of California. It seems that BCBS is up to some dirty tricks, “trying cut costs”. They are sending letters to doctors of newly insured people asking the doctor to “rat” them out if there are any discrepancies from their “true” medical condition, opposed to what was placed on the application. According to the article they are looking for preexisting conditions, including pregnancy that applicants were not truthful about. Luckily for the people of California the doctors are outraged and are sticking to their patient doctor confidentiality.

A spokeswoman for BCBS Shannon Troughton said

“Enrolling an applicant who did not disclose their true condition (and the condition is chronic or acute), will quickly drive increased utilization of services, which drives up costs for all members,”

Health Insurance
She may be right in the fact that increased service may drive up the cost for members, BUT if someone controlled the cost of medical services, that would not be an issue. How can the hospital charge you ten dollars for an aspirin when you can buy a bottle of 100 for five bucks at the local pharmacy?

The issue about preexisting conditions is the most ridiculous thing out there. The people with these conditions need the insurance the most! How can you be denied coverage because you are sick or pregnant? Like I have said before have you very heard of an Insurance company that is losing money? NO they are the one industry that always makes a profit. The Fortune Global 500 shows that WellPoint the Indianapolis-based company that operates BCBS made over a three million dollar profit.

The National Coalition On Health Care states on their website

“Although nearly 47 million Americans are uninsured, the United States spends more on health care than other industrialized nations, and those countries provide health insurance to all their citizens. “

Why will the nation’s politicians not put a stop to this? I’ll tell you why, they all have health insurance and they can afford the additional costs that go along with medical care. Yes the Presidential Candidates have been talking about “reforming health care”, but most of what they are speaking about is providing affordable health insurance to everyone in the nation. When the real problem lies in the COSTS OF THE HEALTH CARE! It is like putting a band aide on an enormous gash of the sides of the American People.rising costs of health care

For now the people of California have the doctors on their side.

“We’re outraged that they are asking doctors to violate the sacred trust of patients to rat them out for medical information that patients would expect their doctors to handle with the utmost secrecy and confidentiality,” said Dr. Richard Frankenstein, president of the California Medical Association.

Anthony Wright, executive director of HealthAccess California says it best

“They are playing a game of ‘gotcha’ where they are trying to use their doctors against their patients’ health interests. That’s about as ugly as it gets.”

I have a feeling it is going to get uglier as the medical costs and the amount of uninsured people rises things can not get better. Something must be done to regulate this industry, a Citizens for America group would be perfect, NO Politicians!
