Furious Friday Nipples Rings and Urinal Bags

Lawyer: Woman Forced to Remove Nipple Rings at Airport

A Texas woman faced extreme humiliation when trying to board a plane. As she went through the metal detectors the alarm sounded due to her nipple piercing and she was asked to step aside for further review with a wand. Mandi Hamlin explained that she was wearing nipple rings that were making the alarm sound. The TSA officers informed her that she would have to remove the piercing, which can be very painful, in order to board the plane. She says that she could hear the snickering from the male agents as she was removing the piercing one of which she need to use pliers for.

I just don’t understand why The TSA would disgrace this woman like that. A simple solution would have been for her to expose the rings to a female officer, use the wand, pat her down and allow her to board the plane. What is wrong with these people, did they think she was going to hurt someone with a nipple ring?

Urinal Bags Don’t Sit Well With Union

Communications Workers of America Union Officials in Colorado say that the telecommunications company Qwest, tried to get their male technicians to use disposable urinal bags to cut down on bathroom time. A manager at Quest actually handed out 25 bags to some male technician and they were told not to spend time looking for a bathroom when in the field. The union has stepped in, but has not filed a grievance yet.

A local union administrative director said that while the union deals with a

“a lot of silliness in corporate America, this one takes the cake.”

Completely inhumane and ridiculous!

There is an issue being raised in the union construction community as to the way that Apprentices are treated on the job. The issue at hand deals with the “hazing” or tradition of an Apprentice being razzed until he reaches Journeyman status.

My husband thinks this is a touchy subject and that I will receive a lot of flack for saying what I am about to, but it’s my opinion. I will only be speaking as to the Ironworker part of this issue because that is the trade that Chad has been in for 12 years.

Why has it come in our society that we must “baby” everyone and “sugar coat” everything. This is a tough cruel world you should be prepared or it will eat you alive.
ironworker
When my husband first started working for the union, he like many of the new guys had no clue as to what he was doing. The on the job training is so crucial in his line of work, and safety is a major issue. I remember the countless nights of dinner table conversation that included all the “hell” he had endured during his long day at work. If he was doing something wrong, he was yelled at, he was “punked” out many times, and always had the worse part of any job. Chad knew that this was a union tradition that had been passed down by his forefathers to make certain Apprentices learned the ropes. Yes there were days when he thought he had had enough, but he stuck it out trying to excel everyday so that he could earn his right of being a great Ironworker.

Chad did eventually earn that right of Journeyman status and we truly believe that he learned many valuable lessons by being “punked” as an apprentice. There are many guys in his union called “slugs”, guys that put as little effort forth as possible or are just there for a paycheck. In my opinion using this hard method on the Apprentices teaches them to work hard, respect their forefathers and take extreme pride in their work. If they are there to just collect a paycheck it puts other Ironworkers lives at risk, because they do not care enough to pay attention.

This tradition passed down by generations is no different than the U.S. Military sending you to boot camp. When you arrive you have no clue what you’re getting into, they ride you hard and demean you when you make a mistake, in hopes that you will not make that mistake again. When you exit boot camp you are considered a good tough military soldier. So why would we not do the same in certain workplace conditions, where other people’s lives are at risk daily?

Chad has been training Apprentices on the job for a few years now and he uses the same “hazing” training methods. The guys that he has trained know that he is doing it to make them better Ironworkers and they also know that one day they will be able to help an Apprentice succeed too. These Apprentices, like Chad many years ago work harder and pay more attention to avoid the “hazing”. Is that such a Bad thing?

Scam Targeting The Elderly

People that scam other people out of their money or possessions are total scum. Anytime we see an article that could affect someone else being scammed we will post it as a warning.

An article on our local news station is warning that “sales” men are trying to scam elderly people into buying products at ridiculously high prices, products that they could purchase much cheaper at the local store. The part of this scam that truly boils me over is the way the scammers get the phone numbers for these “prospective” clients. They are placing “raffle” boxes at local businesses, usually raffling off a “free” meal. When you fill out the entry form, you include your name, phone number and AGE. These “sales” men then find the elderly people (which are on a fixed budget) and call them to say “you won a free meal”. When these people arrive at the restaurant they are greeted by a salesman that pitches products to them at astronomical prices. Products like fire extinguishers and smoke detectors, stating that their old ones are not working or inefficient.

The Local Authorities in ARGENTINE TOWNSHIP, Mich do not know who these “sales” men are, so BEWARE! If it is happening in communities here chances are it is happening where you live too. Please warn the people that you know and alert authorities to anything even smelling like a scam.

People like this are dirt, the dregs of the earth, instead of going out and making an honest living, they would rather ruin someone’s entire life to get ahead. Keep you eyes open and help catch a scammer.

Careless Drivers Get Away With Murder

So many people lose their lives to careless drivers that literally get away with murder. To be charged with murder you have to knowingly plan to kill another person. When you are behind the wheel of a motor vehicle it is like driving a lethal weapon even at slow speeds it can be deadly to the human body. Anyone that has a driver’s license and has seen a deadly accident knows a vehicle can do tremendous damage. DrivingIf you get behind the wheel of your vehicle and drive recklessly you are knowingly putting your life and other people life at risk. Defensive driving saves lives, you should be aware of everything around you and ahead of you when you drive. It is not always fun to watch for people on the side of the road, or drive the speed limit, you would rather talk on your cell phone, eat your lunch and put on makeup. Next time your in a hurry to get somewhere or get a call on your cell phone think about what would happen in that one split second behind the wheel of your car when everything could go wrong, is it worth it?

You read about tragic car accidents in the news daily, this can be prevented! Drivers must take responsibility behind the wheel. People must realize the consequences of being a careless driver, you always think it won’t happen to you, well it might. Tougher car accident laws are needed, when a person dies in an automobile accident unless there is undoubted proof it was a “freak” criminalaccident or both drivers were responsible then there should no questions about charges being filed. These drivers are responsible for hurting or causing the death of other people. They end up hurting not only the family involved, but also their own family, not to mention the many other people that care about both families.

Many of you may know the driver that was responsible for the death of our son was never charged. She was driving an SUV going 45 MPH, never hit the brakes and he was riding his bike, where is the responsibility here? She gets to continue to drive with no consequence for her actions.

Early last week a careless driver claimed the lives of a father and his 5 year old daughter, two local area residents. They were on their way to school for a day of coloring eggs when their van was hit head on by a U.S. Marshal van. The woman that was driving the U.S. Marshal van was going 55 MPH and ran a stop sign, never hitting the brakes. The van that the father and daughter were in rolled several times and they were ejected, both killed. A witness that was behind this woman says

I was behind the white van when this happened and I’m still in shock over what I saw. the black van never stopped. She was doing at the least 55 or faster when she hit them and never even try to stop there is not even any break marks on the pavement where she even tried to hit her breaks & as you can see in the video there is no sun shining if so I would have had my sunglasses on & I didn’t. I’m still trying too figure out in my mind what she was doing to not see this white van coming ….

The driver of the U.S. Marshal van says that the sun blinded her and that is why she hit the van carrying the father and daughter. This happen about 15 miles from our house and I agree with the witness that the sun was not shining and in the video from the news of the accident scene the sun was not shining. THINK about what she said I didn’t see them because the sun was in my eyes, then why the hell did she not slow down! Why would you continue to drive at 55 MPH when you are “blinded”? At this time the police are saying it is unlikely the driver of the Marshal van will be charged.

It is just not right how careless drivers can get away with murder. The next time you are behind the wheel of your car think about what could happen in a split second and what repercussions it could bring. We can all saves lives by slowing down, paying attention and do not multitask while you are driving, you have a deadly weapon in your hands.

Michigan Congressman Wants 50-Cent Tax Hike on Every Gallon of Gas

boiled overMichigan is in enough trouble at this current point in our economy and some boneheaded congressman thinks that putting a 50 cent tax increase on gas is going to help “save” the environment. Rep. John Dingell D-Mich thinks that putting this tax on gasoline will deter people from using so much, therefore reducing the dependence on import oil.

News for you Mr. Dingell, most of the residents of Michigan must commute many miles for their jobs. This would just put an even greater burden on those residents. Chad commutes on average of 100 miles one way for work five to six days a week. We are already having a very difficult time with the gas prices could you imagine another 50 cents a gallon and it being a tax! Just Plain Stupid!
